Highway 16 (seen on the right of this image) winds its way through Jasper National Park. I've travelled Highway 16 countless times with millions of other travellers, but was completely unaware of the the varying eco systems that lay just beyond view. While there are so many fascinating geological features in this photo, my personal favourite is the small turquoise lake just to the right of the highway. Locally, this lake is known as Stinky Lake because of its apparent distinct sulphur smell - though most of us have never actually stepped out of our cars for a whiff!
