I had finally taken a long awaited trip out west and was travelling from Canmore to Lake Louise. As I was driving along the snow covered road I saw I was paralleling a train. I tried to get ahead of it to stop for a picture. I managed a little bit of a lead and realized that I was at Morant's Curve! I had not realized it was on my way. I was sure I was going to make it into the small parking lot in time but fate had something else in store for me. The car in front of me stopped dead in the road and parked in front of the entrance to the parking lot. I could not leave my truck on the road I sat there as precious seconds passed by. The owners finally returned, I pulled into the parking lot and ran to the overlook with my camera. I managed a few shots of the tail end of the train before it disappeared. Luckily the last car was an engine and though the head lamp was not lit, it still made for a nice shot as it passed by the Bow River.
