When the temperatures drop below the dreaded -40 celcius in the north, it is a time when most people don't want to brave the cold, unless absolutely necessary. In our case, it is a photographers dream! Over the years, we have tried this phenomenon many times, but this was definitely our biggest success. We walked out about 300 metres onto huge Marsh Lake, 40 minutes south of Whitehorse with 3 thermoses full of freshly boiled, pristine water, which was pumped from the lake. The sun was at the perfect spot, just about to set at about 3pm on this day. To achieve this shot, you have to be pretty quick as you don't get the same effect by using just warm or cold water. And 1, 2, 3.....I throw the water as hard as I can above and behind my head while the picture is shot!
