For some the news of a polar vortex is a good reason to stay indoors. For the adventurous residents living on the shores of the largest lake in the world, the cold arctic air means more places to explore. On this day, we rode our fat bikes several kilometres off shore to explore Lake Superior's Victoria Island. A thick layer of hoar frost covered the surface of the ice, as we rode until we reached open water.
